Listen at Lilliput

The third Listen at Lilliput event features Natasha Lohan, Alexis Nealon, Rachel Ní Chuinn and Gavin Prior on 29 July in the reading room of the Lilliput Press, Dublin. Books from the publisher's catalogue will be on sale at a discount on the night.

The Lilliput Press, based in Sitric Road, Stoneybatter, Dublin, has previously hosted two Listen at Lilliput events — the performances are held in the independent publishing house's reading room. The third Listen at Lilliput event takes place on Sunday, 29 July, at 7.30pm, with performances from Natasha Lohan, Alexis Nealon, Rachel Ní Chuinn and Gavin Prior.

Lohan, a vocalist based in London, most recently wrote the music for Lizzi Kew-Ross' dance piece, Without Warning, which was created for the Old-Vic Tunnels performance space beneath London's Waterloo Station. She will perform songs and improvisations at the Lilliput event.

Alexis Nealon is a guitarist, computer composer and sound engineer, who often builds his own digital effects. For this performance he will use a guitar with a Sustainiac pickup, Roland virtual system and an Eventide processor, and will play both solo and in collaboration with Rachel Ni Chuinn.

Rachel Ní Chuinn describes her music as working 'with sound, movement, text and electronics to explore ideas of touch and physicality in music' with field recordings and sounds from everyday objects often forming part of her music. She makes music as HMS Reliant and is co-director of the Dublin Laptop Orchestra. Her performance will incorporate voice, live sampling, max patches, hemispherical speakers and gametrak controllers.

Gavin Prior is a songwriter and improviser, and a co-founder of the Deserted Village record label. He works with prepared and unprepared acoustic and electric guitars, circuit bending, modified instruments and voice and plays with United Bible Studies, Toymonger and Sabre Series. His performance will feature previously unreleased United Bible Studies songs, and an improvised duet with violist, Ailbhe Nic Oireachtaigh.

Books from the Lilliput Press — which counts over 400 titles in its catalogue — will be on sale at a 25% discount on the night.
