Dancer Colin Dunne on Tour
Dancer and former Riverdance star, Colin Dunne has just started to tour his one-man show, Out of Time, around Ireland.
This is Dunne’s first full-length solo show. It presents multi-media elements of text, film and sound design with the dance. Collaborating with sound engineer Fionán de Barra, the sound of Dunne’s footwork is digitally processed live then looped, remixed and layered to generate a percussive score for the show. The projected archival images include dancers from the 1930s onwards and Dunne himself as a ten year old boy.
Dunne sees the show as ‘an unsentimental homage to Irish step dance’, and an investigation of his relationship with the tradition that has shaped his life.
