Christof Releases EP on Irish Label

0

The small Irish label Bluestack records brought out its latest release this week – an EP by the Dutch-born artist Christof. Love’s Glory was recorded in Fulham, London, earlier this year and follows two full-length albums by the artist.

Christof’s voice and finger-picked steel string guitar dominate the record, with some cello, double bass, guitar, mandolin and drum parts added in. ‘It’s quite a personal record for me,’ says Christof, who lived in Galway for about five years. ‘It’s an EP with three tracks about the same girl.’

The classical singing of his mother, and the guitar pickings of his father are said to be much of Christof’s inspiration, as well as the people and places he has known ‘from the damp cobbled streets of Galway … to the bustle and life of London Town’.

Christof is on tour throughout the UK and Europe in September, October and November, with headline dates in London and Manchester, and support slots with the Boxer Rebellion and the Staves. See here for dates. Tour dates in Ireland in December are expected to be announced.

Bluestack Records carried out a survey earlier this year in a bid to learn more about listening and music purchasing habits.
