UCC Seeking Applications for Traditional Artist in Residence

Deadline for submissions is 15 August.

Following residencies by Iarla Ó Lionáird, Niall Vallely, Desi Wilkinson and Karan Casey, University College Cork is now seeking a Traditional Artist in Residence for 2017–18.

Jointly funded by the College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences (UCC) and the Arts Council, the scheme welcomes applications from traditional musicians, singers and dancers of distinction. The role will be offered for the period October 2017 to September 2018.

The appointee will advise and mentor emerging traditional artists in the UCC community, offering six contact hours per week in the form of workshops, seminars and consultation during university terms. The appointee will also give two public performances, and s/he will engage in a collaborative project with staff and students leading to the production, for public dissemination, of original artistic material.

In university vacations, the appointee will enjoy uninterrupted time to advance his/her own projects.
