Stiúideo Cuan Announces Summer Concert Series 2024

Féasta Ceoil an Spidéil ‘24, beginning on 31 May, will feature Liz and Yvonne Kane, Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta, Martin Hayes, Kíla, Peadar Ó Riada and Doireann Ní Ghlacáin, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Mick O'Brien, and more.

Stiúideo Cuan, the arts and music centre in An Spidéal, Co. Galway, has announced its third annual concert series, taking place in May and June.

Féasta Ceoil an Spidéil ‘24 will present fourteen concerts beginning on Friday 31 May with Liz and Yvonne Kane, recently awarded the Gradam Ceoil TG4 Grúpa Ceoil/Music Group award. The following Wednesday 5 June will feature Séamus and Caoimhe Uí Fhlatharta, recent winners of the RTÉ Folk Award for Best Emerging Artist.

The June concerts continue with fiddle player Martin Hayes with Brian Donnelan (bouzouki/concertina) on 6 June, and sean-nós and country singer Caitríona Ní Cheannabháin with fiddle player Mick Conneely and accordion player David Munnelly on 7 June.

The following week will see Kíla play on 13 June, and on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th, Stiúideo Cuan will present the world premiere of a work by Peadar Ó Riada titled Beatha. For this new work, Ó Riada will be joined by fiddle player Doireann Ní Ghlacáin.

Singer-songwriter Pádraig Jack will play the venue on 20 June and he will be joined by Anthony Thistlethwaite, a member of the Sawdoctors and former member of the Waterboys, and Éamonn Ó Maoildearg. On 21 June, singer Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh will be in concert with guitarist Gerry O’Beirne and fiddle player Dónal O’Connor.

The following week will feature five concerts: Danú on Monday 24 June, Laoise Kelly and Tola Custy on 26 June, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh and Mick O’Brien on 27 June, The High Seas (Ciarán Ó Maonaigh, Caitlín Nic Gabhann, Cathal Ó Curráin and Dermot Mullholland) on 28 June, and Clann Mhic Ruairí on 29 June. The series will conclude with fiddle player Zoë Conway and guitarist John McIntrye on Thursday 4 July.

All concerts will be recorded and broadcast on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta this autumn. Stiúideo Cuan has just 57 seats so early booking is advised.

The complete concert series from last year, Beo ón gCuan, and the Cuan an Cheoil series presented by Liam Ó Maonlaí, both produced by Stiúideo Cuan and broadcast on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta, are available to view online
