RTÉ to Host Two-Week Online Music Series for Childline

Hozier, Wild Youth and Dermot Kennedy among those who will perform during the first week of the online series.

RTÉ 2FM has announced a two-week online music series in aid of children’s welfare charities ISPCC and Childline, starting today (27 March). The series will see one performance every day at 7pm, featuring a line-up of Irish artists.

On the line-up for week one are Hozier (27 March), Danny O’Reilly (28 March), Wild Youth (29 March), Kodaline (30 March), Dermot Kennedy (1 April), Picture This (2 April), and Gavin James (3 April). The musicians performing on week two will be announced soon.

The performances will be streamed on the artists’ personal Instagram accounts and will feature a donation link so that viewers can donate to support Childline and the ISPCC.

President of the ISPCC, Caroline Downey said:

The stress among young people, being sexually, physically and emotionally abused and the added stress of the pandemic is putting huge demands on the Childline service. All fundraising has ceased, we are in dire need of the public support because 90% of our funding comes from the kindness and generosity of the Irish public. Through the support of all the incredible artists who are taking part and RTÉ 2FM, we hope that this new form of fundraising will enable us to keep our ISPCC/CHILDLINE service open and running 24 hours in these unprecedented times.

Listeners can donate €4 by texting the word ‘childhood’ to 50300 or donate more by going on line.
