BBC 6 to Broadcast from Five Indie Music Venues

Steve Lamacq show will visit The Cluny, The Leadmill, Clwb Ifor Bach, The Cavern and the Windmill Brixton between 27 and 31 January.

As part of Independent Venue Week 2020, Steve Lamacq will take his BBC Radio 6 Music show to five music venues across the UK.

‘January can be a make or break time for small venues,’ says Lamacq, ‘so it’s terrific to be involved in Independent Venue Week again, which was launched specifically to support these places and the artists who thrive in them.’

This time we’re trying to emphasise just how important local venues can be in providing a stage for new artists on their way to bigger success, by taking some of our favourite musicians back to the haunts where they first plied their trade and began honing their songs.

On Monday 27 January (4pm-7pm), he will be joined by singer and songwriter Nadine Shah at The Cluny in Newcastle. On Tuesday at The Leadmill in Sheffield, his guest will be Self Esteem, the experimental pop project of musician and singer Rebecca Lucy Taylor. At Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff on Wednesday, Gruff Rhys from Super Furry Animals will perform. On Thursday at The Cavern in Exeter he will be joined by singer Frank Turner. The broadcast tour will finish at the Windmill Brixton in London where he will be joined by Anna Calvi.

Independent Venue Week is a seven-day nationwide celebration of music venues and the people that own, run and work in them.
