Esker Festival Choir Applications

Esker Festival Choir Applications

Friday, 30 June 2023, 8.45am

The 2023 edition of the Esker Festival Orchestral is set to take place from August 14th to 20th. This year marks the festival’s 10th anniversary and tour, featuring two performances of Gustav Mahler’s 2nd Symphony. The concerts will be held at Galway Cathedral on August 19th and St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin on August 20th.

The performances will feature vocal soloists Kathleen Nic Dhiarmada and Madeline Judge with a choir part in the final movement. The Esker Festival is now seeking to form a choir and singers of all ages and backgrounds from across Ireland are invited to apply. The only prerequisites are a reasonable level of music-reading ability and prior experience singing in choirs.

To ensure a successful performance, a series of rehearsals will be held in Galway and Dublin in the weeks leading up to the concerts. While attending at least two rehearsals and the relevant dress rehearsal is mandatory for participation, it is not obligatory to perform in both concerts. However, it is highly encouraged.

No deadline specified.
