BBC Proms: Songs and Dances with the Kanneh-Masons
Prom 20 of Proms 2024 will feature a performance by brothers Braimah and Sheku Kanneh-Mason, along with Brazilian guitarist Plínio Fernandes, at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, 4 August 2024. The concert will begin at 11:00 AM, with tickets priced from £11 to £54, plus a booking fee.
The programme includes a variety of folk songs, dances, prayers, and incantations. The concert will open with “Ajde Jano,” a traditional Serbian piece, followed by “Scarborough Fair.” Johannes Brahms’s “Hungarian Dances Nos. 1, 2, and 5,” Béla Bartók’s “Romanian Folk Dances,” and Burt Bacharach’s “I Say a Little Prayer” will also be performed. The programme continues with Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song,” Laura Mvula’s “Sing to the Moon,” Antonín Dvořák’s “Rusalka – ‘Song to the Moon’,” Antônio Carlos Jobim’s “The Girl From Ipanema,” Astor Piazzolla’s “Libertango,” Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish,” and “Good Times” by Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.
The Fantasia Orchestra, conducted by its founder Tom Fetherstonhaugh, will make its Proms debut during this concert. The performance will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and will be available on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer during the season.
