BBC Proms: The Sinfonia of London and John Wilson
The Sinfonia of London, under the direction of conductor John Wilson, will perform at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, 4 August 2024, as part of Proms 2024. The concert, Prom 21, will begin at 19:00, with ticket prices ranging from £15 to £64, plus a booking fee.
The programme will feature the UK premiere of Wynton Marsalis’s “Herald, Holler and Hallelujah!” lasting 6 minutes. This will be followed by Aaron Copland’s “Billy the Kid – suite,” which is 21 minutes long, Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” at 8 minutes, and George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” orchestrated by Ferde Grofé, at 17 minutes. After an interval, the concert will continue with Charles Ives’s “The Unanswered Question,” lasting 6 minutes, and conclude with John Adams’s “Harmonielehre,” a 42-minute piece.
Pianist Steven Osborne will perform Gershwin’s jazz-influenced “Rhapsody in Blue.” The concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 and will also be available on BBC Four and BBC iPlayer.
