CoDI Grange – Call for sound artists / composers / music creators

CoDI Grange – Call for sound artists / composers / music creators

Friday, 29 May 2020, 10.00am

Tŷ Cerdd – Music Centre Wales and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board are announcing an Arts and Health partnership ahead of the opening of the Health Board’s new Grange University Hospital.

Call to artists
A call to composers / sound artists / music creators is now open. Selected artists will receive a global fee of £2000 for their participation (to include expenses) and will each be matched with a community music group to work with later in the process of composition (the nature of this engagement work will be defined as the project develops and according to concurrent measures around Covid-19).

The commissions fall with the broader context of the Grange Arts Strategy and Programme, which aims to enhance the emotional well-being of patients, visitors, staff and the wider community. Each art commission will contribute to creating spaces that are connected, inclusive and allows users the opportunity to experience a considered healing environment that promotes well-being through art.

The hospital is to be a Critical Care Centre, and visitors to the multi-faith chapel will typically be seeking comfort, reassurance, sanctuary and peace. The installations should respond to the surroundings and context, and we are interested to hear submitting artists’ vision for thematic content and their thoughts on appropriate approach.
