The Far Field

Friday, 1 May 2020, 9.00am

The Far Field is a magical collection of music and song produced by Ceol Connected's by Dr Thomas Johnston, created with pristine production values, evocative soundscapes and a roll-call of high calibre musicians, namely Seán McElwain (guitar), Shane Greene (keyboard), and Stephen Markham (sound design).

Inspired by the fairy folklore of the Sliabh Beagh region of Co. Monaghan, songs such as 'Whistle and Sing' describes the power of the fairies to impart the magical ability to play music on the unsuspecting passerby (in this case, Farmer Lonán).
The Far Field album was made possible by Deis Recording and Publication Award from the Arts Council. The CD comes with a beautifully illustrated cover art booklet which tells the story of Farmer Lonán, you can play the tracks and bring his adventures to life through music and song. Afterwards, your story booklet folds out into a stunning A2 illustrated poster that is perfect for hanging on a child's bedroom, preschool, or classroom wall.

The album and illustrated book is available to purchase on https://ceolconnected.bandcamp.com/
