New York Philharmonic Plays on: 9/11 Memorial Concert — A German Requiem

On Memorial Day, the Philharmonic and Lincoln Center at Home co-present a rebroadcast of the Philharmonic’s first performance after 9/11: Brahms’s A German Requiem, led by then Music Director Kurt Masur on September 20, 2001, in a concert dedicated to the memory of the victims. (Read the program notes.) The broadcast begins with remarks by The Right Reverend Clifton Daniel III, the Dean of The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, which has hosted the Philharmonic’s Annual Free Memorial Day Concert since 1992.
