West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival Composition Competition 2025 – solo soprano saxophone (May Premiere)

The West Wicklow Chamber Music Festival, in partnership with the Contemporary Music Centre, Ireland, is inviting applications for the 2025 Composition Competition

This year, there are two separate awards, and competition entrants are invited to submit a piece circa 3–5 minutes duration. Pieces should be written for either (i) solo soprano saxophone (May premiere) or (ii) solo viola (November premiere).

The winning composer of the solo soprano saxophone award will receive a €500 cash prize, a world premiere performance at the festival’s May edition, and a Composer’s Voice interview with the Contemporary Music Centre.

The competition is open to emerging composers based in Ireland or holding Irish citizenship.

The deadline for the solo soprano saxophone award is 24 March 2025.
