The Magic of Mozart
Lyric Opera presents a new concert series celebrating the works of our finest opera composers at the National Concert Hall. The series commences on Saturday October 11th, with an evening devoted to the world’s most celebrated musical genius Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert series is presented in association with, and broadcast by RTE lyric fm, and is hosted by Liz Nolan.
In a beautiful candlelit setting, Lyric Opera brings the magnificence of Mozart to life – with arias, duets, trios and ensembles from the pen of the master of classical music.
This concert will feature a rare appearance by Majella Cullagh, one of Irelands great soprano’s on the international stage, and introduces the exciting young Irish Mezzo, Jessica Costelloe. Jessica makes her Irish opera debut, having completed her studies at the prestigious Juilliard School of Music (NYC).
Rising American star, Andrew Owen joins the company from the Theatre an der Wien, and Lyric Opera favorite Graeme Danby returns to complete a quartet of exceptional Mozart singers.
The acclaimed Irish conductor David Brophy joins the Lyric Opera Chorus and Orchestra once again to conduct the many glories Mozart left to the world including - excerpts from Le Nozze di Figaro, The Magic Flute, Idomeneo, Don Giovanni, Cosi Fan Tutti, Mitridate – Re di Ponto, Zaida and La Clemenza di Tito.
