Sorrell Women Conductors Programme
The Sorrell Women Conductors Programme aims to help women conductors bridge the gap between undergraduate and postgraduate study.
The course - held over four weekends - is aimed at women who are considering applying for a Master’s in orchestral conducting in the UK or abroad. Participants will be invited to the first weekend in the autumn, which will give conductors the chance to enhance their craft and develop wider skills in musical and personal leadership.
Sian Edwards, the Academy’s Head of Conducting, will lead the course alongside guest teachers in a series of workshops and mentoring sessions.
Up to six participants who show the greatest potential will be invited back for three further weekends where they will work to develop the skills and experience they need to close the gap between them and the best male applicants for postgraduate conducting programmes.
Programme participants will have the opportunity to sit in on Academy postgraduate conducting classes, and will also have access to individual advice and mentoring throughout the year.
