The distinguished French pianist and honorary Irishman, Philippe Cassard, won Irish hearts when he swept the boards at the inaugural Dublin International Piano Competition in 1988. In celebration of his 60th birthday, Philippe has invited an impressive collective of musical friends to celebrate this milestone with him on the stage of his home away from home, the National Concert Hall.
A truly celebratory programme with a strong French flavour, the performance features music by Debussy, Fauré and Poulenc and texts by poets Paul Verlaine and Louise de Vilmorin, combined with an evocative work for 4-hands by Robert Schumann and Schubert’s elegant “Trout” Quintet.
For this celebratory concert, Philippe will be joined by a stellar cast of well-known and much- loved musicians for what is sure to be musical triumph and a concert not to be missed.
