Deputy Head of School of Keyboard Studies

The Royal Northern College of Music seeks to appoint an outstanding musician as Deputy Head of School of Keyboard Studies, to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and to assist in the coordination and development of the work of this internationally acclaimed department. The school has around 100 students with approximately two thirds of them coming from abroad, which creates a multicultural and vibrant learning environment. The School of Keyboard Studies has 15 piano tutors as well as a number of visiting tutors and international chairs, many of whom come from abroad.

The successful applicant will be an accomplished pianist and/or teacher with a broad array of relevant experience related to conservatoire education and piano pedagogy. With performance being at the heart of the school, s/he will contribute to the extensive tutorial programme and the development of curriculum initiatives, as well as the management of the school. S/he will be able to work collaboratively across college life and will be a team player with an approachable manner and good communication skills. S/he will liaise with staff and students regarding the day to day running of the school as required by the Head.

Reporting to the Head of School of Keyboard Studies and working alongside the Heads and Deputies of Principal Study Schools, the successful applicant will make a significant contribution in the development of the strategic ambitions of the College in its learning and teaching, and the activity of its artistic offer. With an outstanding profile in professional practice and/or research, the post holder will support the development of research at the RNCM, ranked highest in the Research Excellence Framework 2014.
