Viola Section Leader

Tuesday, 31 August 2021, 12.00pm

The Ulster Orchestra is a band of 63 internationally-respected musicians and together with our administrative team we are one of Northern Ireland’s most cherished cultural assets.

We have an excellent opportunity for someone to join us as Viola Section Leader. In addition to possessing exceptional professional orchestral and solo viola playing abilities the ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, both musically and non-musically. As Section Leader, you will be required to actively develop and support positive working relationships with other members of the orchestra including the administration, the section and any freelance players, therefore strong communication skills are a pre-requisite. Full details can be found in the recruitment pack, which is downloadable from the link below, along with information about our selection process.

Under its Chief Conductor, Daniele Rustioni, the Orchestra presents an inspiring year-round programme of symphonic events, chamber music and broadcast concerts, performing across Northern Ireland and further afield. We have developed a progressive and dynamic digital programme which has helped us to successfully navigate the changing cultural landscape.

Our innovative approach to Learning & Community Engagement activity complements our performance schedule and this is an exciting opportunity to play your part.

This is a full-time, permanent salaried position, although job share may be considered. The position attracts a range of competitive benefits such as pension, health cash plan and generous annual leave provision.

The Ulster Orchestra strives to be truly representative of all aspects of diversity and to offer a fully inclusive working environment. We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. All appointments will be made on merit with openness and transparency of process.

Please note that applications will ONLY be accepted via Musical Chairs.

The closing date for applications is Tuesday 31 August 2021.
