Jason O' Rourke Trio | Róisín Chambers & Ruairí Cunnane
“O’Rourke proves time and again why he’s regarded as among the best in his field, whether that’s in the quality of his writing or his expressive playing, which breathes new life into traditional music without taking it too far from its roots.” Dave Haslam, RnR magazine.
The Sunny Side of the Latch is Jason’s third solo album, and his most ambitious project yet. The Belfast-based concertina player’s album is comprised of 24 new compositions including less common tunes such as highlands, hop jigs, and French mazurkas. Jason has also released five albums with various bands and carried out international collaborative projects in India, Brazil and Cambodia. His online Kolkata-Belfast lockdown project with Bengali singer Deepmoy Das was premiered at the “greatest literary show on earth”, The Jaipur Literature Festival, in 2021. Despite these international excursions, however, Jason’s music remains firmly rooted in the Irish tradition, as his new compositions demonstrate.
Jason is joined in the trio by Ciara Maguire on fiddle and Joe Campbell-McArdle on guitar
