Revenge Of The Dreamers III: Director's Cut

Revenge Of The Dreamers III: Director's Cut

The latest collaborative project from the one of the biggest labels in the hip-hop industry.

Dreamville - Big Black Truck ft. JID (Official Audio)

Dreamville Take Over.

Why I gave the above rating:

Boasted as one of the most collaborative projects in musical history, Revenge of the Dreamers III certainly lived up to the hype. Although the album was originally released on the 5th of July in 2019, the recent Deluxe version (also known as the 'Director's Cut') was just recently put out on streaming services on Friday night, the 17th of January, to start the new decade off with a bang. I personally found the original album to be a 10/10, but the label has somehow managed to raise the bar again with the release of some of the best songs the label has ever released, with a very large amount of the credit due to the artists on the label themselves (J. Cole, JID, Earthgang, Cozz, Lute, Omen, Ari Lennox, Bas).

To give a brief description on how this album came to be, the record label Dreamville rented out a large music studio where they locked artists in there for 10 days to make as much music as they possibly could. It was originally meant to only include the artists and producers of Dreamville, but the idea became so widespread that famous and talented artists from far and wide came to feature on the songs. It is said that over 120 artists in total came to create in that studio over the course of 10 days, and over 130 songs were recorded.

Personal favourites off this album would have to be JID's long-awaited 'Big Black Truck', 'Sacrifices' by Earthgang, J. Cole, Smino and Saba, 'Down Bad' by JID, Bas, J. Cole, Earthgang and Young Nudy, and 'Under The Sun' by J. Cole, Lute and DaBaby.
