BEETHOVEN 4

Mendelssohn: The Fair Melusine Op. 32
Áine Mallon: The Morrigan
Beethoven: Symphony No.4, Op.60, B-flat major

In a programme that takes you from water nymphs to Celtic mythology, hear how the tale of the mermaid Melusine inspired Mendelssohn. Experience her two worlds colliding as this fluid dreamscape transitions from stormy passion before it fades into the watery depths– it’s just magical.
Enjoy one of our finest pipers, Mick O’Brien in a world premiere, as he brings The Mórrigan, the great warrior-queen goddess of Celtic mythology, to life in Áine Mallon’s extraordinary new work.

Revel in Beethoven’s much-loved masterwork with its light-hearted music, full of invention and unexpected turns. This Fourth Symphony will blow you away with its lyricism, surprising shifts of mood, and good humour.
