Bbeyond is looking for one Northern Ireland-based emerging artist* for a new commission of a performance art work, which will be showcased at the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival (Belfast), planned for May 2021. The work will be presented in a public space of the artist’s choice, in the area of the Cathedral Quarter and its surroundings.

You will receive a production fee of £50 and an artist fee of £200, as well as a free membership fee for the year 2021, in-kind support for the development of a new performance from Bbeyond, and – during the final performance event – printed PR and PR on our social media channels, video + photo documentation (we will follow your preferences regards how your performance should be promoted and documented).

During the course of the year the awarded artist will receive mentoring from Bbeyond experienced members and other visiting performance artists. The work will be developed in conversation with Bbeyond and the other artist participating in the New Commission Programme, the recipient of Bbeyond’s recent graduate bursary Sarah Smith.

To apply, submit to bbeyond [at] europe.com (subject: “New Commission”) your short bio (250 words max), maximum 3 images of recent performances (individual or group performance) you were involved in, and a short text explaining why you would like to be part of the new commission programme (150 words max).

Your application will be assessed by the Bbeyond board, and the awarded artist will be voted the best candidate between the 10 shortlisted artists. The awarded artist will be announced on the 12th October 2020. Due to the limited capacity of Bbeyond board we cannot provide feedback on your application.

* emerging artist = we understand ‘emerging artist’ as somebody within 5 years (both consecutive and non-consecutive) of performance artist practice and/or participation in exhibitions, festivals, group or solo performances.
