Principal Conductor & Artistic Partner Thomas Zehetmair begins a journey with Schubert. His Death and the Maiden has a magical poignancy and visceral power that touches the heart. His prodigious Overture in C minor reveals Schubert’s scintillating youthful imagination, followed by John Dowland’s gorgeous Lachrimae Antiquae. Two delightful dances book-end Ruth Crawford Seeger’s mesmerising Andante for Strings. Air and Dance by Delius is a simple-textured piece while Debussy’s shimmering and sensuous Danse Sacrée et danse profane is one of the finest works for harp and strings, performed by Aisling Ennis.
