Departmental Lecturer in Music

The Faculty of Music, located at St Aldate’s, Oxford, has announced an opportunity for aspiring academics in the field of music. The faculty is seeking to appoint a fixed-term Departmental Lecturer in Music for a duration of 36 months, commencing from September 1, 2023, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a minimum of 36 hours of lectures and seminars annually for the Faculty of Music. Additionally, they will be involved in examining and providing supervision for graduate students.

Applications are invited from candidates with expertise in ethnomusicology and/or the anthropology of music, with a keen interest in the sociology of music, sound studies, and/or popular music studies.

To be eligible for consideration, applicants must hold a doctorate in music or a related field, with clear evidence of significant expertise and knowledge in music. The doctorate should have been awarded at the time of application.

The deadline for submitting applications is set for 12 noon on Monday, June 5, 2023. Interviews are expected to be conducted remotely on Monday, June 26, 2023.
