John Rutter's Requiem at St Paul's Cathedral

Wednesday, 15 November 2023, 7.30pm

John Rutter conducts his life-affirming Requiem under the great dome of St Paul’s Cathedral, returning with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and The Bach Choir for this entrancing concert of music by John Rutter.

Alongside the stirring choral work Lord thou hast been our refuge is the Ukrainian Prayer, a work that moves the listener in its plea for protection and courage.

Hear the UK premiere of John Rutter’s St Cataldo, a new work that charts the journey of the Irish saint to Taranto, Italy, and is inspired by the beauty of the city’s cathedral that is named after him.

John Rutter’s widely-acclaimed Requiem draws from the traditional Latin text as well as English Psalm settings, and mediates between their themes of death, faith and spiritual ascension with a rich and tender lyricism.
