Merton College is inviting applications for a Career Development Fellowship in Music. This position offers a salary of £44,936 per annum, along with additional allowances. The fellowship, set to commence on 1 October 2024, is a fixed-term role, concluding no later than 30 September 2028.

Responsibilities of the Fellow will include conducting innovative research in historical musicology, contributing to wider academic research projects in Music at the University, and teaching undergraduates for an average of six hours per week during full term. Additionally, the Fellow will partake in the organisational and pastoral responsibilities for Music students at the College. Applicants should possess, or be close to completing, a doctorate in Musicology, and exhibit research achievements in historical musicology. Experience in working with musics or archives from the global South, Indigenous lands, or the Black diaspora is desirable. Essential criteria include the ability to provide effective small group teaching and a commitment to a personal career development plan. Applicants are expected to demonstrate aptitude for college academic duties and willingness to undertake wider Fellow responsibilities.

The deadline for applications is noon on Monday, 26 February 2024, with interviews scheduled for Friday, 19 April 2024.
