H. Eccles Sonata in G minor
L. V. Beethoven Sonata No. 3 in A major for cello and piano, Op. 69
Fazil Say 4 Cities

Inspired by some of the most beloved cities, the Panorama Series brings audiences on a musical tour exploring place and the music it inspired.

Prize-winner at the prestigious Anton Rubinstein Competition, British cellist Ariana Kashefi joins forces with fellow compatriot, pianist Sam Armstrong, for a recital from the Baroque period to the present day.

Baroque composer Henry Eccles wrote a series of solos for violin inspired by his time in Paris, his G minor sonata the standout composition from this set, which we will hear arranged for cello and piano. Facing increasing deafness, Beethoven’s most loved cello sonata in A major was written in Vienna, at the same time as his renowned fifth and sixth symphonies, and a work instantly adored by audiences. Ending the recital is an ode to Anatolia, Turkey and four of its cities (Sivas, Hopa, Ankara and Bodrum) which are “full of personal memories” to the legendary Turkish composer Fasil Say.
