Formed in a secondary school, Galway-based NewDad quickly evolved from an avoidance tactic to a dream-pop sensation. Members Julie Dawson, Áindle O'Beirn, Fiachra Parslow, and later Sean O’Dowd, developed their sound influenced by The Cure and Pixies. Their lo-fi debut single 'How' in 2020 led to a BBC6 Music session with Steve Lamacq.

NewDad's 2021 debut EP, 'Waves', recorded in Belfast, showcased Dawson’s evocative vocals and the band's maturing sound. Performances at Green Man Festival and Pitchfork Music Festival Paris followed, along with their second EP, 'Banshee'.

Signing with Atlantic Records, they announced their debut album, MADRA, in 2023. Their 2024 tour includes key UK venues.
