The Westport Belmullet Municipal District Office of Mayo County Council is inviting tenders from artists for the Westport Public Art Project 2023/24.

Following recent funding, the aim is to rejuvenate Westport skatepark and tackle increasing graffiti by commissioning community murals or street art for three locations: Westport Skate Park, town Greenway under-passes, and the forthcoming concrete swimmers shelters at ‘The Point’, set for installation in September 2023.

The commissioned art should promote anti-vandalism, non-bullying ethos, and potentially, art or environmental awareness. Paintwork must be simple for ease of future maintenance. Artists experienced in community collaboration are preferred, though those without can propose including a community facilitator.

Submissions should encompass an outline proposal, CV showcasing relevant experience, and the completed Tender Form. All tenders must be emailed in PDF to nangley [at] mayococo.ie by 5 pm on 9th October 2023. Completion is set for April 2024, with one artwork ideally finalised by the end of 2023.
