Gill Books publishes an eclectic list of bestselling books from current affairs to history, biography to lifestyle. In collaboration with some of Ireland’s best writers, brands and creative talent, Gill Books creates a dynamic publishing proposition in Ireland, building on a 160-year heritage whilst looking excitedly to the future.

We are now seeking an outstanding Commissioning Editor to build, shape and develop an ambitious list. Commissioning approximately 20 non-fiction books per year, you will analyse market trends and consumer sentiment to identify subject areas and authors to publish, as well as use your entrepreneurial sense to develop strong commercial proposals. You will be naturally engaged by people and their stories and ideas, and have a passion to help bring those stories and ideas to life. You will build on your own network of contacts and develop long-term relationships with authors and agents.

You will have exceptional communication skills, enabling you to champion every one of your books in-house and to our customers, as well as finely tuned project management skills, enabling you to juggle a number of projects at different stages of the publishing process. You will have a strong desire to succeed and meet targets. You will be driven and enthusiastic about building on Gill Books’ track record, and motivated to play a key role in developing its future direction.

Closing date: Friday 14 August 2020

To make an application in confidence, please email [email protected]. In addition to a CV, applicants should include a cover letter explaining the opportunities they believe this venture will hold, together with examples of relevant experience in the skills outlined above.
