Scoil Acla Summer School 2023

Saturday, 22 July 2023, 6.00pm

Scoil Acla is pleased to announce that the booking form for their annual Summer School is now open. The festival will take place this year from Saturday July 22nd to July 29th in various locations across the parish of Achill Island, Co. Mayo.

The Scoil Acla Summer School which has been running for almost 40 years, is a week-long celebration of Irish culture, offering a unique opportunity to learn from experienced tutors, explore the beautiful scenery of Achill Island and immerse oneself in the local community.

This year, as always, the Summer School will feature classes in traditional Irish music, song, dance, writing and Gaeilg’ Acla, taught by some of the most renowned tutors in the country. In addition, there will be a range of workshops, lectures, launches, readings, concerts and sessions taking place throughout the week, providing participants of all interests with an unforgettable experience.

Places are limited and demand is expected to be high once again this year, so early booking is recommended. An Earlybird offer runs until June 30th with 20 euro off each music course.

Commenting on the launch of this year’s summer school, Cathaoirleach of Scoil Acla, Sarah Calvey, said: “We are delighted to open the booking form for this year’s Scoil Samhraidh, following the very successful return of our first in-person events in 2022. The Summer School is a fantastic opportunity to learn, experience and enjoy the traditional arts in the unique setting of Achill Island. We look forward to welcoming participants from all over the world back to the island again this summer for what will be yet another great festival. We would like to thank our funding agencies and local partners for their invaluable support in all that we do.”

More details on the full programme of events will be announced over the coming weeks and months. For more information about Scoil Acla, and to book your place for this year’s summer school, visit the Scoil Acla website at www.scoilacla.ie and keep up-to-date via social media.
