Trainee Producer

Trainee Producer

Monday, 22 July 2019, 5.00pm

This post is offered as part of National Youth Arts Wales commitment to encouraging more young people from a diverse range of backgrounds to consider a career in the creative industries. The Trainee Producer role is a fixed term contract to the end of August 2020 and is aimed specifically at recent graduates from Welsh universities who are from low-income backgrounds looking to start a career in the arts.

You’ll spend your daily life multi-tasking; from answering telephone enquiries or providing administrative support to the NYAW staff team to issuing contracts, liaising with young people engaged in our activity and using social media. You will also help produce the annual NYAW residencies and auditions, supporting the work of the lead producer on each. Or you could be supporting our outreach work across Wales, on projects that help us engage with more young people. Much of the work requires innovative thinking, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate well.

Some days also involve event management, and you’ll be asked to represent NYAW at meetings and events. We’re a positive, hard-working, and welcoming staff team. The team is currently comprised of 4 full time and 2 part time members. Some key roles at NYAW work flexibly and we currently have one team member who is based in North Wales but we meet regularly as a team for planning and training. The Trainee Producer will help manage internal communications as well as externally with our young people and other stakeholders.

You will be based at our current office space in Wales Millennium Centre however travel to other parts of Wales will be required on occasion, for example during residencies, auditions and performances. Transport and accommodation will be provided where necessary.
