The Arts Council and TG4 are offering a funding opportunity for the creation of two feature-length landmark documentary films under the ilDÁNA 2023/2024 programme. These films, to be in Irish or bilingual, should focus on the arts, with each having a budget of up to €135,000. Priority will be given to projects that reflect inclusivity and diversity in the arts, and that incorporate new and under-represented voices. While submissions can cover any art form, there is a particular interest in documentaries exploring architecture, theatre, street art, and other less-documented art forms.
Proposals for ilDÁNA should be contemporary in subject and approach, although historical subjects with a contemporary angle may also be considered. Successful films will be screened in cinemas before being broadcast to a primetime TG4 audience in 2024/2025. Applications must be made through the TG4 online application system by 17:00 on Monday, 11 December 2023. The selection will be made by representatives from TG4, the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon, and an independent assessor.
Applicants are required to submit a detailed proposal, including a production budget, creative team CVs, and evidence of rights and permissions. TG4 will manage the commissioning process, and the selected films must go to contract by the end of February 2024. Additional funding may be available for theatrical exhibition.
