Seamus Kelly & Aileen Saunders - "The Life and Words of John Ennis & The Life and Words of his Tom Ennis"
Born during the Famine, John Ennis grew up south of Prosperous, Co. Kildare before emigrating to America and becoming a Chicago policeman. An uilleann piper, John was founding member of The Irish Music Club of Chicago as well a writer and poet. His son Tom was an uilleann piper, fiddler and dancer with his musical performances attracting Irish diaspora from across America.
Seamus Kelly and Aileen Saunders talk will discuss both the life and words of both John and his son Tom. Uilleann piper Brian McNamara and singer Mairead Swords will perform as part of the event.
Notes & Narratives will take place at Na Píobairí Uilleann, 15 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1, starting at 8:30pm on Thursday 19th January 2022. Admission is €10 (unwaged / student / retired €5). For those unable to attend in person, it will also be live streamed for free through our channel NPU-TV.
