The Radio 3 Carol Competition is your chance to create a Christmas number one!

Radio 3 wants you to create an original melody for ‘The Winter’s Brightening’, a new poem by award-winning poet Niall Campbell.

Tunes should be catchy, memorable and creative. You can write a tune in any style or genre, but it must be singable. The winning carol will be one that can be sung, in unison, by any group of singers of mixed ability.

If your tune is shortlisted by the judges, you’ll get the chance to work with Radio 3’s in-house arrangers on a harmonised version that will be professionally recorded by the BBC Singers.

The overall winner of the competition will have their carol played throughout the festive season on BBC Radio 3.
