The Delines with special guest Café Spice

Thursday, 24 October 2019, 8.00pm

Sligo Live is delighted to announce another stellar addition to its October festival bill. The Delines, an Americana alt country soul band led by celebrated American writer, Willy Vlautin, play the Hawk’s Well Theatre on Thursday 24th October 2019 at 8pm.

Sometimes, fate is just a damned cruel thing. But when it nearly capsizes the career of an acclaimed band in the blink of an eye, the band’s only prudent choice is to hang in there until the ship is ready to sail again. That’s what The Delines did while supporting the recovery of lead singer Amy Boone, who underwent three years of treatment and rehab after being seriously injured when she was hit by a car in Austin, Texas. What sustained their spirit, according to guitarist and songwriter Willy Vlautin, was knowing they already had most of their sophomore album, The Imperial, in the can.

The band finally released The Imperial in January last and it went straight into the Irish/U.K. Americana charts at number 1 and stayed there for several weeks. The Portland, Oregon band’s entire UK and Irish tour sold out and the press and radio loved the album.

Joining The Delines are Café Spice, a Manchester-based indie-folk trio who create heavenly and Autumnal harmonies reminiscent of the Mamas & Papas whilst also sitting with the effortlessly sublime indie-folk of contemporaries such as The Staves or HAIM. Café Spice are three musicians, including Sligo native Niamh Feeney. Each of the women brings their own individual style spanning jazz, blues, pop, country, traditional folk and funk. The result is a fantastic fusion and mixing pot of genres. A new sound woven from singing, harmony and clever songwriting.

Tickets - €22.50 / €11.25 under 18s
