Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival - Friday Night Main Concert - Celebration of Old-Time Music
As in previous years, we will dedicate the Friday night main concert to American Old-Time music and the early country music which became the building blocks of bluegrass as we know it today.
First to stage will be Austin and Courtney Derryberry with Greg Reish.
Austin’s unique fiddle playing alongside Courtney’s singing and dancing and Greg guitar playing are set to stage the stage alight.
The trio’s show will be followed by one of the hottest string band around – Bill and The Belles.
The group has a knack for saying sad things with a bit of a smirk, and anyone who’s been to one of their shows can attest that you leave feeling lighter and refreshed. This is a band that revels in the in-between: deeply engaged with the stringband tradition and eager to stretch those influences to a contemporary setting. A timeless place where Jimmie Rodgers and Phil Spector can overlap, and a driving fiddle and banjo tune makes way for a sentimental parlor song.
