Irish Women In Jazz Series: JENNIFER MCMAHON

Irish Women In Jazz Series: JENNIFER MCMAHON

Sunday, 16 October 2022, 7.30pm

The Dublin Jazz Co-op and Irish Women in Jazz are excited to present vocalist and composer Jennifer McMahon with Baz Rycraft on double bass, Darren Giles on electric guitar and Sebastian Jezzi on drums.

A Dublin native, Jennifer studied jazz performance at Newpark Music Centre and went on to receive her masters in music from Berklee College of Music in Valencia, Spain. Her debut album 'Part of The Whole' was written following the passing of her father and was recorded during her studies, featuring more than 20 musicians from across the globe.

Though her music is heavily informed by her studies in jazz, Jennifer considers herself a singer- songwriter, finding joy in sharing words and stories. She is also a multidisciplinary artist, making jewellery and clothing at her studio in the Back Loft Artist Studios in Dublin. She is the founder of irishwomeninjazz.ie and is an advocate for women in music.

In November 2021, Jennifer flew to Nashville to reunite with Clifford Bond (piano) and Devin Molloy (drums), both collaborators on her debut album, for the first recording session for her sophomore album, Willow, which is in production and penned for release in the coming months.

Expect to hear music from both projects with long time collaborator Darren Giles on guitar, Baz Rycraft on double bass and Sebastian Jezzi on drums.
