Lyric Opera’s presents a fully staged production of Bizet’s CARMEN – one of the most passionate and romantic of all of the operas, full of colourful characters, a richly lyrical score and a dramatic storyline, at the National Concert Hall on October 15th, 16th and 18th – including a matinee performance at 3pm on Sunday 16th . This will be an unmissable presentation of Irish opera live!

Director Vivian Coates creates this fully staged production, featuring a wealth of Irish and International talent. Singing Carmen is stunning UK soprano Hannah Pedley, one of the most exciting new talents on the opera stage. She is joined by celebrated English tenor Julian Hubbard as Don José, and outstanding Korean baritoneJong HoonHue as Escamillio.  The Lyric Opera Orchestra and Lyric Opera chorus and childrens chorus will accompany, conducted by Anthony Negus.

 Don Josè deserts his fiancée and his regiment to run off with the beautiful and bewitching Gypsy, Carmen. But this lady is a deadly temptress and shifts her affections to the suave and attractive toreador, Escamillo. In the shadows, outside the bull-ring in Seville, Carmen meets her fate when Don Josè murders her, while inside, the crowd cheers Escamillo’s victory. Don’t miss this wonderful production with its colourful and passionate score, including fantastic choruses; The Habanera, The Flower Song, The Seguidilla, Chanson Bohème and the Toreador’s Song.
