Wild Atlantic Way: A Musical Journey

The forthcoming music series, "Wild Atlantic Way: A Musical Journey", will be broadcast on TG4, beginning Sunday, 11th June 2023. The series consists of four one-hour episodes highlighting traditional musicians, singers, dancers, and folk groups from Sligo, Mayo, Leitrim, and Galway.

The inaugural episode, airing on 11th June at 8.30pm, concentrates on Sligo. Featured performers include The O'Donnell Family Folk Group, Cathy Jordan, Seamie O'Dowd, Colemans Trad Group, Carmel Gunning, The Bhoys of Ballisodare Sea Shanty Choir, Fr. James Mc Donagh Traditional Group, and Bróga Bríomhar Dance School.

The subsequent episode, to air on Sunday, 18th June, puts a spotlight on Mayo. It includes performances from the Murphy Sisters Folk Group, accordion player Dave Munnelly, Sean Nós Dancer Tommy Stenson, The Mayo Pipers, Atlantic Rhythm Dance Troupe, contemporary group Billow Wood, Ragus, and the Tiernan Family.

The third instalment, scheduled for Sunday, 25th June, presents performers from County Leitrim. These include the Garadice Trad Group, Gan Ainm Folk Group, singer Charlie McGettigan, Bellhavel Trad Group, and ballad singer Fionnuala Maxwell.

The final episode, slated for Sunday, 2nd July, will feature Galway. It will showcase singer-songwriter Ultan Conlon, Back West Trad Group, traditional singer Caitriona Ni Cheannabháin, Leo Moran and Padraig Stevens, and The Whileaways.

"Wild Atlantic Way: A Musical Journey" will be available on TG4 and the TG4 Player.
