The Arts Council and Maynooth University are inviting applications for the Writer-in-Residence position for 2025.

This residency offers a total fee of €30,000, divided between the Arts Council (€20,000) and the university (€10,000). The position is open to mid-career and established writers residing in the Republic of Ireland, with a proven publishing record in prose fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, or children’s literature.

The role involves engagement with students and staff at Maynooth University from January to June 2025, including teaching and public events, with a maximum commitment of four hours per week. From July 2025, the writer will focus solely on their own practice.

Applications, which must include a detailed proposal, an artist’s statement, and a CV, should be submitted by email to recruitment [at] mu.ie by 5:30pm on Thursday, 3 October 2024.
