Rough Magic Theatre Company is inviting submissions for the ROUGH IDEAS Open Call to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

Emerging and early-career writers are encouraged to submit the beginnings or parts of a play in progress. The selected winner will receive €2,500 and will collaborate with Rough Magic’s Literary Manager throughout 2025 to develop their play. This opportunity includes dedicated dramaturgical support to complete a full first draft.

Applications are open to anyone residing on the island of Ireland or Irish citizens abroad, with a focus on diversity and underrepresented groups. Submissions must be made using the application form, including a PDF or Word document of the submitted scenes. The deadline for applications is 5pm on 4th October 2024.
