On this week’s RTÉ Miriam Meets programme, Mike Scott and Steve Wickham of the Waterboys spoke about their musical relationship, including how in the mid-1980s Wickham invited Scott to Dublin for a break from the London music business and this ultimately led to their shared ‘discovery’ of the West of Ireland and Irish traditional music. They also spoke about the time Sharon Shannon joined them on tour and how the constant playing of tunes that went on in between gigs gives them the sense that they were taking a break from their ‘sessions’ to do the concerts.
