The Callino Quartet

Music Network have opened applications for its annual Young Musicwide Award 2012, which provides opportunities and support for young chamber ensembles embarking on their professional performance career.

The Award is open to Irish or Ireland-based chamber ensembles of between two and five members, with up to three winners selected through an audition process in September. These winners will be provided with a range of services to support a professional career, including paid performance opportunities with Music Network partners, promotion services, training opportunities and subsidised production of a professional CD, as well as a national showcase tour and other opportunities within Music Network.

Previous recipients of the Young Musicwide Award 2012 include the Callino Quartet, who have gone on to be one of Ireland’s most popular contemporary music chamber ensembles, working with many Irish and international stars and recently making their Carnegie Hall debut at the invitation of the Kronos Quartet. In 2009 the award was given to the piano quartet Cappa Ensemble, now about to record their debut album with support from Music Network.

The deadline for applications for the Music Network Young Musicwide Award is Monday, 16 July 2012.
