What Makes a Great Venue?

The winner of the 2012 IMRO Live Music Venue award was announced as Monroes of Galway at an event in Dublin hosted by Paddy McKenna of 2FM. The award is decided by public vote by over 8,000 IMRO (Irish Music Rights Organisation) members.

There was also a number of winners in regional categories with the Olympia in Dublin, the Set Theatre in Kilkenny, Glór in Ennis, McGrory’s of Culdaff in Donegal and the Róisín Dubh in Galway picking up awards.

Electric Picnic was awarded the IMRO Best Festival prize, and the IMRO Best Small Festival went to Live @ the Marquee in Cork. There was also a Hot Press readers poll, with the Set Theatre and Cork Opera House and the O2 in Dublin (the overall winner) coming out on top.
