Two October Kaleidoscope Concerts

Two October Kaleidoscope Concerts

Typically a monthly event, the extra date is courtesy of the Goethe Institute and of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival. The concerts will feature music by J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Lachenmann, Mozart and Poulenc, among others.

This month in Odessa Club, Dublin, fans of the monthly series Kaleidoscope will be treated to twice the amount of music as usual, with concerts taking place on 4 and 12 October.

The first concert features music by Mozart and Poulenc, ending with a performance from Mediterranean-Irish explorers Tarab, under the guidance of Francesco Turrisi. UK-based Irish cellist Ben Cashell (pictured) will be performing selections from J.S. Bach’s Cello Suite No. 4 and an interpretation of a ‘To Build a Home’ by the Cinematic Orchestra.

The concert on 12 October highlights German composers J.S. Bach, Beethoven and Helmut Lachenmann, and also honours the link with the Dublin Theatre Festival by incorporating works by Kurt Weill/Bertolt Brecht and a new collaborative work by David Stalling and actor Olwen Fouéré, based on a text by Goethe.

Typically a monthly event, this extra date is courtesy of the Goethe-Institut and of the Ulster Bank Dublin Theatre Festival. The concerts will be taking place later than usual — 10pm — with tickets for both concerts costing €10 (€2 booking fee).
