'Trailblazer' Event with 'Sonic Pop-Up'

The line-up of the ‘sonic pop-up’ afterwards is Donal Lunny, Donal Dineen, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh (who is also giving a talk), Kate Ellis, Laura Sheeran, Linda Buckley and Seán Mac Erlaine.

Following an inaugural event at Dublin Contemporary last October, One Wild Life and pop-up productions are co-producing a Christmas public talk event on Wednesday, 21 December in Smock Alley Theatre, Dublin 2, this time also with musician guests. The line-up for the ‘sonic pop-up’ afterwards is Donal Lunny, Donal Dineen, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh (who is also giving a talk), Kate Ellis, Laura Sheeran, Linda Buckley (see below) and Seán Mac Erlaine.

The event gives the speakers (‘trailblazers’) a chance to share with the audience significant moments of insight in their lives and the actions they have taken as a result to change the way things are done.

Say the organisers, ‘We invite people to hear how others have stepped off the beaten track to forge their own paths and perform their own inner acts of non-compliance. We need a population that is willing to rock the boat, stand up and be non-compliant with the status quo. The evening will showcase what is possible when individuals stop asking for permission and step into making their own dreams and ambitions a reality.’

The speakers for this event are: Amanda Coogan, Aaron Copeland, musician Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Cathy O’Connor, David Hayes, Joan Freeman, John O’Donoghue, Marie Mulholland, Mick Kelly, Orla Tinsley, Michelle Darmody, Philly McMahon.

Clare Mulvaney of One Wild Life explains the thinking behind including music for this one: ‘It is idea and art combined, having an event that will stimulate the mind as well as lift the spirit. We wanted to create a whole evening of magic, showcasing innovative music and thinking.’

The Trailblazers part of the event starts at 7pm and all proceeds from donations for that will go to Pieta House. The music starts afterwards at 9.30pm and costs €10 (tickets at the door only).
