Roaratorio in Cork

John Cage’s 1979 work Roaratorio will be performed at Cork Opera House on Saturday, 3 November at 8pm. The piece, which was based on James Joyce’s Finnegan’s Wake, included six Irish traditional musicians in its premiere, among them Joe Heaney and Peadar Mercier.

The Cork performance will feature Paddy Glackin, Liam O’Flynn, Seamus Tansey and Mel Mercier, as well as Cage’s original sound engineer for the piece, John David Fullemann.

Roaratorio was performed in Belfast earlier this year. Read Robert McMillen’s account of the performance, or watch the video below to get an insight into the work.
