A Republic of Culture by 2016

The National Campaign for the Arts is currently developing plans for its pre-budget campaign, driven by the aim of achieving a ‘Republic of Culture’ by 2016.

Among the campaign plans are:

2014 Budget – lobby TDs for a commitment to stop the slide in arts funding and demand a standstill in the 2014 Budget (which takes place on 15 October 2013).

2014 Local Elections – to achieve a more fair and stable situation in local arts funding, lobby those running for election to make a public commitment to making arts funding core not discretionary.

2016 General Election – to achieve a functional level of funding and recognise the centrality of the arts to Ireland’s future, lobby those running for election to make a public commitment to increasing arts funding and future fair play for the arts.

The NCFA will shortly be releasing its pre-budget submission as a short video that will be launched as politicians return to the Dáil in September.

More details of the campaign will follow shortly. For more information, or if you have ideas for the campaign, contact Emma on info [at] ncfa.ie
